Nagpur, Sep 24 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday took stock of the rain situation here and faced public anger.
Fadnavis, who is also guardian minister of Nagpur, visited some homes to interact with flood-affected families in Ambazari Layout and Corporation colony in his constituency.
Administrative officers, some BJP leaders were present along with Fadnavis who took him to selected houses only. This angered many people who were waiting for the arrival of Fadnavis since morning. They expressed anger against BJP workers and Devendra Fadnavis.
Some women came in front of Fadnavis' car and started talking loudly. Some BJP workers and police tried to push them aside. Seeing the anger of the women, Fadnavis again alighted from the car and visited the damaged houses there.
Nagpur city witnessed 109 millimetres of rainfall in three hours, including 90 mm between 2 am and 4am in the wee hours of Saturday.
The city's largest waterbody, the Ambazari Lake and the Nag river breached their boundaries, leading to severe flooding.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and its state counterpart SDRF, Indian Army and other local teams are undertaking rescue and relief operations across the city.
As many as 400 people were rescued from the flood.
A total of four people lost their lives in the flood including two women, one of whom was suffering from paralysis.
