Mah: Cong says discussions with NCP 'just started', allying with Sena will be decided later

Mumbai, Nov 12 (UNI) The much-awaited 2019 Maharashtra government isn't appearing on the horizon as of now, and the delay may extend further as talks between the Congress and the NCP have "just started".

The Congress-NCP leadership met at the YB Chavan centre here on Tuesday and later held a press meet to convey what transpired during the discussions between the two.

It was during the noisy press meet that the trio senior Congress leaders-Mallikarjun Kharge, Ahmed Patel and K C Venugopal-stated that the talks with their pre-poll ally NCP have just started.

After coming to agreement on "certain points", conversation will be striked with the second-largest party Shiv Sena for government formation, they told.

Taking a potshot at the 24-hour deadline granted to the NCP on Monday by the Governor, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said he facilitated us enough time.

Commenting on the sketchy yet-to-be formed alliance with the Shiv Sena, Mr Pawar said firstly consensus needs to be made between his party and Congress, after which, it will be contemplated what will be the need and policy of forming a government with the Sena?

Maharashtra Governor recommended for a President's rule in the State even before the expiry of deadline set for the NCP-Congress negotiations and this act is being eyed by prominent parties as a decision taken in undue haste.
