Mah: Agitators burn power bill copies demanding rectification of hefty amounts

Kolhapur, Jul 13 (UNI) As part of the state-wide agitation, Maharashtra Irrigation Federation, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghtana and prominent political leaders staged protest here on Monday over the issue of inflated power bills.
Led by progressive thinker Professor N D Patil, Federation President Pratap Hogade and Sanghtana chief Raju Shetty, the face-covered protestors demonstrated in front of the District Collectorate.
Sloganeering against the state-run power company MSEDCL, the socially-distant gathering registered their fierce protest by burning copies of the bill while demanding rectification of the hefty charges at the instant.
Later, a delegation met Collector Daulat Desai and handed over a memorandum detailing their demands.
According to reports, similar protests were held in many districts of the State as the consumers have received bills, which apparently don't commensurate with their consumption needs.
