Magnitude-7.4 earthquake strikes off Indonesia coast, tsunami warning issued

Jakarta, Nov 14 (UNI) A 7.4 magnitude earthquake was registered off the coast of Ternate island, western Indonesia, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said on Thursday.
According to Sputnik news agency, the quake was registered at 1617 hrs (GMT) on Thursday about 82 miles to the northwest from Ternate city at the depth of 38 miles.
No casualties or destruction have been reported.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning, saying that dangerous tsunami waves are possible on the coast at the distance of up to 185 miles.
Indonesia is part of the "Pacific Ring of Fire," a major area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean, which is a seismic zone, known for its powerful earthquakes.
