Machil, Keran, Karnah, Gurez remain cut off due to snow

Srinagar, Dec 14 (UNI) Dozens of far-flung and remote villages, including those near the Line of Control (LoC) besides border towns of Machil, Keran, Karnah, Gurez, remained cut off for the fourth day on Saturday due to heavy snowfall.
The Kupwara-Machil, Kupwara-Keran and Kupwara-Karnah roads besides road to border town of Gurez, surrounded by Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) from three sides, from Bandipora remained closed due to fresh snowfall.
There was about two feet to five feet of fresh snowfall forcing authorities to suspend traffic on dozens of roads leading to far-flung and remote villages, including those near LoC, official sources said.
The roads connecting border town of Keran, Karnah and Machil with district headquarters Kupwara received about two feet to five feet of fresh snowfall.
Meanwhile, the Bandipora to Gurez and Neeru border areas also remained closed due to fresh snowfall at Razdan pass for the fourth day today. The road was recently reopened after remaining closed since November 6 due to heavy snowfall.
Dozens of villages remained cut off from their district and tehsil headquarters due to several feet of snowfall.

Unsuccesfull attempt by robbers to loot bank branch in Phagwara
