Bengaluru, May 25 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Higher Education G T Devegowda today underlined that the recent debacle in Lok Sabha election was a big lesson but there is no threat to the Congress-JD(S) Coalition Government in the State.
"It is a big lesson for us. All the leaders of the Coalition parties have accepted the defeat and we bow to the peoples verdict," he added.
Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, said that "it is true that Voters have slapped us in the election, but there is no threat to the government since we have joined hands to serve the people of the State and it will be continued for the remaining four years".
Replying to a question, the Senior JD(S) leader underlined that all the leaders including former Prime Minister H D Devegowda, who was defeated in Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency, had accepted the peoples verdict".
He said that the debacle will be taken as a challenge by the Coalition parties and further strengthen the tie-up by correcting mistakes. "We will continue to be in power and will not allow BJP to topple the government by wooing ruling party Legislators," he added.
Devegowda said that "we have sent greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and have appealed to him to consider State's and Farmers demand favourably in his next five year term. Nobody in both the party were disappointed as in Democracy winning and loosing is common".
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader B C Patil clarified saying that "I have no intention to quit Congress and join BJP as news spread in some section of the media. The reports are far from truth and I have no plans to join BJP".
Replying to a question, Patil said that "No body from BJP have approached me to join their party. There is also no offer of Minister post if I joined Safforn party".
