While Union Minister and BJP candidate Shripad Naik won North Goa seat defeating his nearest rival Girish Chodankar of Congress, BJP MP Narendra Sawaikar was defeated by former MP and Congress candidate Francisco Sardinha in South Goa. Accepting the defeat, Mr Chodankar said,“I accept the moral responsibility for the Congress’ losses as the state president... But Panaji is the heart of the BJP and Goa.
