Lokesh slams AP govt for indifference in helping flood-hit farmers

Lokesh slams AP govt for indifference in helping flood-hit farmers

Vijayawada, Oct 30 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party National General Secretary and former Minister Nara Lokesh slammed the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy headed the government for its indifference in extending the required help to the flood-affected farmers.
Mr Lokesh said that he visited the flood-affected areas recently in five districts and the farmers told him how only 10 to 15 per cent enumeration of damaged crops was being taken up by the Government. This was highly objectionable at a time when there was heavy damage to crops in over 215 manuals while over 10,000 houses were badly hit.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Nara Lokesh listed out demands for the YSRCP regime and demanded immediate steps for ensuring 100 per cent enumeration of crop losses in all the affected districts and mandals. After this, Rs.25,000 compensation per acre should be paid so as to rescue the farmers from losses and debts. Aquaculture in Kolleru lake surroundings and in the Godavari districts was badly damaged.
