Lok Sabha Ethics Committee tables report on TMC MP Mahua Moitra

New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) The Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha on Friday tabled its report in the lower house on the "cash-for-query" allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra.
The panel's chief, BJP MP Vijay Sonkar, tabled the report, amid a ruckus which led to the adjournment of the house till 1400 hours.
The Opposition has been demanding a discussion on the report in the house.
"We haven't received the copy of the report yet. Whatever has to happen, will happen after 2 pm" she told reporters outside parliament.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, "Incredibly inadequate reporting. It seems to have been adopted in two and a half minutes. This suggests to us a political vendetta and not a judicially sustainable process. It is most unfortunate that Parliament is being reduced to such a performance of political vendetta."
On November 6, the Ethics Committee of Lok Sabha recommended the expulsion of Mahua Motira from the house over the cash for query allegations.
The committee also recommended an “intense, legal, institutional inquiry” by the government in a time-bound manner because of the “highly objectionable, unethical, heinous and criminal conduct” by her.
Meanwhile, the ruling BJP claimed that Mahua Moitra had jeopardised national security by sharing her login and password with Hiranandani.
Mahua Moitra faced the allegations of asking questions in Lok Sabha to target Gautam Adani at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
The TMC MP had denied charges of taking bribes but admitted to sharing her parliamentary log-in details with Hiranandani.
