Lok Sabha condemns terror strike in London, pays tributes to Bhagat Singh, others

New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today condemned the terror attack outside the Parliament House in London and in solidarity against terrorism and to pay tributes to the departed, Members observe silence for a while. "Condemning these heinous terrorist attacks, the House stands in solidarity with Parliament, Government and the people of United Kingdom in this hour of crisis and supports the efforts of United Kingdom to bring to book the perpetrators of such terrorist violence," Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said in the House as soon as the day's proceedings were to get underway. "As per reports, four persons have been killed and several others injured in a dastardly terrorist attack in London close to the British Parliament on March 22, 2017," Ms Mahajan said. The Speaker also paid tributes to the freedom fighters and revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their death anniversary. "The sacrifice of these martyrs and their patriotism will always the youth of our country," she said. The House stood in silence for a short while as a mark of respect to the memory of freedom fighters and those killed in London terror strike. Meanwhile, Gopal Baglay, spokesman in the Ministry of External Affairs, in a tweet said, "In solidarity against terrorism. Members of Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parl't) observe silence to honour victims of London terrorist attack". UNI DEVN AE
