Lockdown extended in Itanagar Capital Region

Itanagar, Jul 11 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh government on Saturday extended the on-going
total 'lockdown' in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), which was clamped on July 6 in the
view of spike in COVID-19 positive cases, by one more week.
Addressing a digital press conference, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar said that the
Cabinet in its meeting took cognizance of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases
in the ICR and decided that the on-going lockdown will be extended by one more week
till 0500 hours of July 20.
The CS informed that during this period, intensive surveillance will be carried on at
C, E and F sector, Naharlagun, where positive cases were detected. Contact tracing
will also be intensified.
"We have sufficient antigen test kits that will be used for intensive surveillance in
these areas," he said.
Mr Kumar informed that the frontline workers from various departments will also
undergo Covid tests during this period .
"The restrictions and exemptions in the on-going lockdown will automatically apply
to the next week except in one or two Cabinet made changes," he said.
He informed that grocery shops and vegetable vendors in sectors and colonies will
be allowed to open from 0900 hours to 1700 hours and will be regulated by the
respective DCs.
The CS warned the shopkeepers on selling items at exorbitant prices.
He said strict action will be taken against such shopkeepers by the District
Keeping in view of the heavy rainfall that the state including Capital has been receiving
in the last few days, the Cabinet also decided that heavy good vehicle will be allowed to
enter from Banderdewa gate, the CS stated.
Mr Kumar further said that the Office of the Deputy Chief Minister and the Department
of Finance have been added to the list of offices that are to remain open.
The CS said that officers/officials of Central and State Government posted to
Arunachal Pradesh will be allowed to enter the capital following necessary SOP.
