New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday deferred the further hearing of a PIL on urgent remedies for migrants suffering from nationwide lockdown, to Tuesday as the Centre sought one-day time to file an affidavit regarding the matter.
"We will hear the matter tomorrow, after the SG Tushar Mehta, will file a detailed affidavit," a two-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by CJI S A Bobde said through a videoconferencing.
The Apex Court was hearing the PIL filed by advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava, seeking food, water, shelter, transport and other facilities to the migrant workers and labourers covering hundreds of kilometers of journey to their hometown on foot amid 21-day nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
The petition sought urgent order or direction to Centre as well as Delhi government to immediately redress the heart wrenching and inhuman plight of these migrant workers.
