Patna, Dec 01(UNI)Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today said banks had disbursed loan of Rs 48,641 Crores in the state in first six months of financial year 2018-19 against annual target of Rs 1,30,000 Crores fixed for current financial year, which is more than Rs 2,000 Crores over the corresponding period of the financial year 2017-18.
Mr Modi, after review of performance of banks in 66th meeting of State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) here, said that the target of Rs 1,30,000 Crores had been fixed for disbursement of loans by banks in Bihar during the financial year 2018-19 and a total amount of Rs 48,641 Crores had been disbursed in first six months of current financial year, which is more than Rs 2,000 Crores over the corresponding period of the last financial year 2017-18. The target of disbursing loans of Rs 1,30,000 Crores for the current financial year was more than Rs 20,000 Crores of the target of Rs 1,20,000 Crores fixed for the last financial year, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister said that achievement of banks in disbursing loans in 26 districts of Bihar was less than the state level average of 37.42 per cent. In eight districts, the achievement was even less than 30 percent, he said adding that Jehanabad and Madhubani had registered the achievement of only 25.97 percent and 26.38 percent respectively. Banks of both these two districts would be asked to explain their poor performance in disbursement of loan, he stated.
