LIP workers not allowed to proceed to Delhi to hold demonstration in front of parliament

Ambala, Sep 23 (UNI) Lok Insaf Party workers led by Simarjit Singh Bains on way to Delhi to hold demonstration in front of the Parliament House, were not allowed to proceed further from the Shambhu barrier at Punjab-Haryana border by the state police on Wednesday evening.
The police detained them at the Ghaggar Bridge which they were trying to cross. The police had installed barricades and when the LIP workers tried to cross the barricades they were first warned not to defy Section 144 imposed by the district administration. But when the workers insisted to cross into the Haryana boundary, they were restrained from entering Haryana. Later, the police used water cannon to disperse them. Earlier, the IG Y. Puran Kumar, SP Rajesh Kalia and other visited the spot and reviewed the arrangemnts.
Earlier, Bains had entered into argument that it was his constitutional right to use the National Highway as an Indian citizen under federal system.
