Lion issue: MP CM writes to PM

Bhopal, Feb 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has urged immediate translocation of the Asiatic Lion from Gir to Kuno National Park.

In a communication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he requested the former to intervene and issue directives to the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry and the Gujarat dispensation for early action in this regard, it was officially learnt on Monday.
“Every recommendation by the Wildlife Institute of India and an expert committee formed in connection with the transference has been implemented by the state government. Twenty villages (1,543 families) were rehabilitated. Complete arrangements regarding food for the carnivores are in place through incurring substantial expenditure. Kuno is ready to welcome the creature,” the Chief Minister said.
