Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Feb 8 2016 8:37PM Linguistic minority commissioner visits Pondy.Puducherry, Feb 8(UNI)The Commissioner of linguistic minorities in India,Prof.Akhtarul Wasey today held a meeting with the officials of the administration here on Monday,led by government secretary B R Babu. According to official sources, the Commissioner directed officials of the Union Territory administration to furnish comprehensive data on the facilities for learning mother tongue/minority languages in the UT. He also urged the UT government to constitute UT/district level committees to monitor the implementation of the safeguards for linguistic minorities. The Commissioner also urged the administration to introduce necessary columns in the application forms for admissions to schools elicit the mother tongue of the child. “The first language and third optional language preferred by the parents at the time of admission to ensure that the children belonging to the linguistic minority groups are provided adequate facilities to learn their mother tongue”, the sources said.Please log in to get detailed story.Tags: #Linguistic minority commissioner visits Pondy.
