Puducherry, Nov 8 (UNI) Lightning struck the annexe building of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly in the early hours of Sunday causing damages to a wall and two cars parked in the premises.
It may be noted that the assembly building was one constructed by the French and in 2006 a three-storied annexe building was constructed.
The offices of the Council of Ministers, PWD Minister and Assembly Secretary were accommodated in the three stories of the building.
Atop the building, a water tank was constructed.
Around 0330 hrs early today, heavy rain lashed Puducherry accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Lightning struck the water tank area collapsing a wall.
The wall which collapsed, fell on two cars parked inside the assembly premises damaging them.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, Speaker V P Sivakolunthu and Assembly Secretary Munusamy rushed to the assembly and inspected the damages.
