New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) A life size painting of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be unveiled in the Central Hall of Parliament during the on going Winter Session of Parliament, Lok Sabha secretariat announced on Tuesday.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Portrait Committee in its meeting here on Tuesday. The meeting was presided over by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
The proposal for putting up such a portrait in memory of Late Vajpayee, whose birthday falls on December 25, was given by Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
The meeting was attended among others by Congress floor leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, and members from other parties including B Mahtab (BJD), Sudip Bandyopadhyay (Trinamool), Anant Geete (Shiv Sena) and Jitendra Reddy (TRS).
"The decision to put up Vajpayee's portrait was unanimous," the source said.
Sources also said that the life size painting or portrait will be unveiled during the on going Winter Session of Parliament.
Born on December 25, 1924 in Gwalior, the poet-politician Vajpayee breathed his last on August 16 this year in New Delhi.
