LG fires fresh salvo at Kejriwal

LG fires fresh salvo at Kejriwal

New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) The war of words or rather letters, continued literally, between Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday, with the fresh salvo fired by Mr Baijal, in response to Mr Kejriwal's allegation of 'deteriorating' law and order in the national capital. Reacting to the allegations in his letter, which the Chief Minister had written to the LG last week after his Blur Wagon R was stolen from outside the Delhi Secretariat, Mr Baijal shot off a letter to the former, 'hoping' that he would 'enencourage' the citizens to use 'authorised' parking sites, apart from 'boosting the morale' of Delhi Police for their commendable job of recovering the car within two days. Mr Baijal wrote that after receiving information regarding the incident of theft, he had immediately asked Commissioner of Police, Delhi Amulya Patnaik to take prompt action in the matter. 'Mr Patnaik submitted a status report, apprising me of the progress in the case, including CCTV scanning, intensive checking of parking places and alerting the Picket Staff. The hard work of Delhi Police paid off and the car was recovered within two days', Mr Baijal added. He further said that he regularly reviews the law and order situation of Delhi with the Commissioner of Police and senior officers and various decisions and steps have been taken in these review meetings to make the law and order machinery of Delhi more effective and public-oriented. Delhi Police had submitted in its report that this car, belongung to Mr Kejriwal, was parked about 100 meters away from the authorised parking and no security gear/equipment were installed in it, the LG pointed out. 'In this regard, I express hope that the Chief Minister would not only cooperate with Delhi Police in its efforts to motivate, encourage and generate awareness among the residents of Delhi to park theirvehicles in authorided parking sites and install security appliances/equipments, but would also boost the morale of its policemen by appreciating their commendable efforts that led to the recovery of his stolen car within two days,'Mr Baijal concluded.
