Left, Jana Sena to hold padayatra on April 6 for SCS

Vijayawada Apr 4 (UNI) Left Parties --CPI(M), CPI and Jana Sena will take out a padayatra on National Highways on April 6 as part of their series of agitations demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a joint press conference along with CPI(M) State Secretary P Madhu and CPI State Secretary R Rama Krishna here on Wednesday, actor-turned politician and Jana Sena Party founder Pawan Kalyan said that the Left and Jana Sena party leaders would stage padayatras on National Highways across the state in protest against the betrayal of BJP-led NDA government over providing SCS to the state. Mr Pawan said that he would also participate in the padayatra programme.
The leaders would start their padayatra on NHs in the morning at various places in the state. Wherever there are no NHs, the leaders would organize padayatra on main roads and junctions, he said, adding that the leaders and activists of various organisations, which are supporting the SCS demand, would also participate in the padayatra.
Mr Pawan Kalyan, who played vital role in Telugu Desam party coming to power in the state in the 2014 election, said that he suspects a conspiracy against the state for not taking up the No-Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha. The Centre had failed to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament, he regretted and described it as a blow to democracy.
Mr.Kalyan, opined that if Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had undertaken his Delhi tour few months back, it would have yielded results.
The Jana Sena founder, who is the younger brother of former Union Minister K Chiranjeevi, said that meetings with intellectuals would be organized in Anantapur, Vizianagaram and Ongole soon. He expressed anger over the Centre for its 'nonchalant' attitude in filing review petition against the Apex Court direction on the SC ST Atrocities Act and expressed grief at the death of 11 people in various violence incidents across the country.
He slammed that the ruling Telugu Desam and Opposition YSRCP are criticizing each other instead of mounting pressure on the Centre on the SCS issue.
CPI State Secretary Rama Krishna reminded that it was Pawan Kalyan, who initially demanded the TDP and YSRCP to move a No-Confidence Motion against the Centre.
CPI(M) Secretary Madhu said that various agitations would be carried out till SCS and assurances of AP 2014 Reorganization Act were honoured by the Centre.
Earlier, the Jana Sena Party Chief held discussions with the Left party leaders on the agitations to be organised in the coming days to exert pressure on the Centre to get the Reorganisation Act provisions fulfilled.
