Leading garment exporter Kitex Group to invest Rs 2,400 cr in Telangana

Hyderabad, Sep 18 (UNI) Kerala-based Garment manufacturer Kitex Group, world’s 2nd largest manufacturer of kids apparel, which abandons Rs 3,500-crore investment plan in Kerala, cites 'harassment' by the state government, will be setting up two integrated fibre to apparel manufacturing clusters in Telangana with an investment of Rs 2,400 crores.
Announced this by Kitex Group Managing Director Mr. Sabu Jacob after signing an MoU with the Telangana Government at a function held at a hotel here on Saturday for setting up two integrated manufacturing clusters at Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal and Sitarampur in Rangareddy districts.
The MoU document was exchanged by Telangana Principal Secretary ( IT and Industries ) Jayesh Ranjan and Jacob in presence of Telangana Industries Minister K T Rama Rao, Ministers Ms P.Sabitha Indra Reddy (Education) and Erraballi Dayakar Rao (Panchayat Raj), Warangal Mayor Gundu Sudharani and local MLAs from Warangal and Rangareddy districts.
Targeting to export 3 million pieces of infant apparel to the American market from Telangana,the manufacturing operations will commence from warangal facility by November next year and the second facility at Rangareddy will commence after 3-4 months,said Jacob on the occasion.
The integrated clusters will generate direct employment for 22,000 people locally and in which, we will provide employment to over 85 per cent belonging to women only, he assured and added that it will also generate indirect employment of approx 18,000 people.
The project focuses on Rural employment for unskilled people, semi and non literate people, Jacob informed.
We are employee friendly and we will provide PF, Social security and medical cover to all employees' families besides planning to provide subsidized food to employees at the clusters, said Jacob.
