Leader of Opposition post in UP Assy could face legal tiff

Lucknow, Jun 25(UNI) Suspense persists over the new leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly with Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey announcing to decide on the order by Monday.
The issue of the new leader of the Opposition could hang in balance and can enter into a legal battle as the present leader of the opposition and rebel BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya had already moved an application before the Speaker alleging that the legislature party meet of the BSP held today was illegal and he should be given a chance to place his point before the Speaker decides on the new leader of the opposition.
" Leader of the party has the only authority to call the meeting of the legislature party and hence he is the leader of the BSP till date so the legislature party meeting convened by any other person was against the law," Mr Maurya said in his letter.
