Lawmakers from north east demand steps to do away with regional disparity

New Delhi, Jul 9 (UNI) Lawmakers from north east including from NDA constituent parties and Congress have called for revising the Budget allocation for the north eastern States and maintained that steps ought to be taken to do away with "regional disparity".
State of Assam has railways and airlines, but they do not have waterways while rest of the seven North-Eastern States depend on road transport.
"Unless road transport is improved in the north eastern states, we cannot come at par with rest of the states in the country. Therefore, I want to make a humble request and suggestion to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharamn and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to kindly revise the Budget allocation for the development of the north eastern states in the coming days," said lone Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland Tokheho Yepthomi of NDPP.
