Law on security of journalists to be enacted in Chhattisgarh soon

Raipur, Nov 11 (UNI) A law on security of journalists will be enacted in Chhattisgarh soon. A committee headed by Justice Aftab Aalam, Retd Judge of Supreme Court has prepared a draft for the proposed law.
According to an official statement the committee will tour various parts of the state from Nov 16 to Nov 18 to gather suggestions and feedbacks from journalists, journalist unions and common people on this draft.
The committee will discuss this draft with journalists and journalist unions from 1230 hrs to 1400 hrs at
special guest house Pahuna in the capital Raipur on Nov 16. On the same day, discussion with common people will be held at Pahuna from 0330 hrs to 1700 hrs.
Chhattisgarh Government has decided to implement Journalist Security Law in a bid to empower journalists and create a favourable environment for them to work without having any element of fear.
The committee includes Justice Mrs Anjana Prakash retired Judge High Court, Rajuram Chandran Senior Advocate Supreme Court, Advocate General Chhattisgarh High Court, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary Law Department, Ruchir Garg Media Advisor to Chief Minister, senior journalist Lalit Surjan and senior journalist Prakash Dubey from Nagpur as members.
