Law is catching up with Chidambaram, says BJP

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Shortly after CBI court sent senior Congress leader and former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram to five-day custody, the BJP on Thursday said law is catching up with the Congress party under whose regime the country has experienced 'one corruption a day'.

'We do not interfere with agencies, CBI or others. Law will take its own course,' said Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on a TV channel here.

'In Congress rule, we have seen a scam a day. A to Z scams,' he maintained, adding that 'It is a case of massive corruption.'

Law is catching up, he pointed out.

Congress is synonymous with corruption, he said, adding 'there were coal scam, CWG scam, INX Media scam, Jijaji Scam, because 'looting the country was their mission'.

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh ridiculed Chidambaram's decision to 'abscond' for 27 hours and said if he was such a righteous person, he should have shown the will to cooperate with investigative agencies.

CBI Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar granted CBI custody of Chidambaram till August, 26 in connection with INX Media case.

The probe agency registered an FIR in the month of May 2017 over alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore, when Chidambaram was Finance Minister.
