Law and order under control in Karnataka: Minister

Belagavi. Oct 7 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy today claimed that the law and order is fully under control in the State. Speaking to newsmen here after holding a review meeting with District top police officials here, he said that there was some disturbance in parts of the state as opposition parties tried to take law into their own hands. But strict action was taken by the police and the situation was brought under control. He said that Police were instructed to act with rough hand against trouble mongers and book under Goonda Act who try to disturb peace in the society. Criminals and others who indulge in sexual harassment against children and women should be booked under POSCO, he added. Replying to a question, the Minister said that more than 150 police are involved investigation of murder of Journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh who was murdered in Bengaluru on September 5. "We are confident of the culprit arrested soon," he added. Stating that the Police department is facing shortage of staff, Mr Reddy said that 85 per cent of the vacant posts will be filled by December-January. UNI HVN MSP TS1624
