Lata announces opening of India's biggest, one of its kinds 'Gurukul'

Mumbai, May 13(UNI) Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar announced the opening of India’s biggest and one of its kinds Gurukul 'Vishwashanti Sangeet Kala Academy' in Mumbai.
The Gurukul is located in Pune and Lata Mangeshkar is the chairman of the Gurukul which was thrown open last night.
The idea behind this Gurukul is to provide a platform for aspiring classical musicians from across the country to learn the traditional form of Indian music from the best of gurus'.
Pt Dr N Rajam, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt Ulhas Kashalkar, Pt Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Pt Suresh Talwalkar, Pt Shama Bhate, Pt Yogesh Samsi and Pt Devaki Pandit, Prof Dr Vishwanath Karad realised that in our country it is a very difficult task for an aspiring musician to excel and get the right training and knowledge to scale different heights in the Indian Classical Music Field.
Many a times a great talent goes unnoticed due to lack of training facilities and inability to financially bear the cost of obtaining professional training.
Taking into consideration the above mentioned difficulties any student in 'Vishwashanti Sangeet Kala Academy' will not have to bear any fees.
The students will be provided with residence and mess facilities, however residential and mess charges will have to be borne by the students.
Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar said, 'I am glad that Vishwashanti Sangeet Kala Academy has adopted the Gurukul system of imparting education in classical music.
The venerated Guru Shishya Parampara has been the pride of Indian culture for centuries and has been instrumental in producing some of the finest artistes in Indian Classical Music, Indian Classical Dance and many other forms of the country.
The talented and dedicated Gurus of the Foundation will strive hard to ensure that the Shishyas imbibe the best values and traditions and bring glory not only to themselves, but to the country as well.
Dr Vishwanath D Karad, Founder of MIT Institutes said, 'For us, our culture is our main priority.
We want to enrich it to the next level.
Through the Vishwashanti Sangeet Kala Academy, we aim to revive and promote the ancient Indian culture and values along with encouraging a vast pool of talent to find its expression through music.
