Land deal cancelled, Ajit Pawar denies role and Sharad Pawar targets Fadnavis

Mumbai, Nov 8 (UNI) The controversial Pune land deal allegedly involving Parth Pawar, the son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, was declared as cancelled on Friday night after Pawar met CM Devendra Fadnavis.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi raised the issue on Friday evening.
Shortly after meeting Fadnavis on Friday night, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that his son Parth Pawar, who also happens to be NCP founder Sharad Pawar's grand nephew, was not aware that the land purchased by his company in Pune belonged to the government.

Prohibitory order in force in Kolhapur till Dec 22

Kolhapur, Dec 9 (UNI) In order to maintain law and order in the district, a prohibitory order has been issued by the district administration under Sections 37 (1) (a) to (f) and 37 (3) of the Maharashtra Police Act 1951 from 6 am on December 10 to 12 midnight on December 22 in the entire district.

Maha govt to amend MCOCA to target gutkha suppliers: Fadnavis

Nagpur, Dec 9 (UNI) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced in the Assembly that the state government will move to amend the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) so that it can be used against suppliers and distributors of banned products such as gutkha, pan masala, and charas.
Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio, told the Assembly that under the current version of the Act, its invocation requires an element of threat or physical harm, a provision that makes it difficult to use against habitual vendors of banned products.
