Lahaul Spiti cut off after unprecedented snowfall

Shimla, Sep 24 (UNI) Lahaul Spiti and Kullu has been cut off from rest of the world after unprecedented snowfall and rising of the Beas water and subsequent flood blocked Manali Keylong, Leh and Chandigarh Manali NH as seven district administration decided to close down all private and Government educational institution on Monday.
Report arriving here said that Lahaul Spiti recorded unprecedented snowfall as entire valley is under thick carpet of snow since Sunday. District headquarters Keylong received 60 centimetres (2ft) snowfall. Sisu south Portal of All Weather Tunnel in Lahaul vally also had snowfall.
The gateway of Lahaul Spiti 13,050 ft high Rohtang pass recorded four to five feet snowfall which continue since yesterday. Manali Keylong, Keylong Leh and Keylong Kaza road are snow bound. District administration' says that 31 tourists stranding at Rohtang pass since Saturday rescued on Sunday.
The ripen crops of Peo, Patato and cabbage buried under the thick layer of snow ruining the economy of tribal district moreover road, power and telecommunications services including mobile signal is off since Sunday morning, Mr Kundan Lal local journalist posted at Keylong told UNI.
District Spokesman Kullu Mr Sher Singh said that Rain and Snow also paralysed normal life in the Kullu district as half-a-dozen of valley bridge, a heliped, 90 percent road, including Chandigarh Manali NH blocked at several places, several low-lying area especially on the banks of Beas are submerged in the Beas river.
A Volvo Bus and tuck, several tourists points, properties, shrines and market places washed away by the flood.
