Lady Gaga joins ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ cast, marks big-screen return amid world tour

Washington, Oct 11 (UNI) Lady Gaga is set to join the cast of “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” marking her return to the big screen amid her ongoing Mayhem Ball Tour.
The Oscar and Grammy-winning artist was recently spotted in Milan, where the sequel to the 2006 fashion classic, starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, is currently being filmed.
The appearance follows Gaga’s recent four sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena and comes just before her next tour stop at Stockholm’s Avicii Arena.
Variety reports that this will be Gaga’s first major film role since Joker: Folie à Deux, following a brief cameo earlier this year in Netflix’s Wednesday.
Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 bestselling novel, the original The Devil Wears Prada followed aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) as she worked under the icy, commanding editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) at the fashion magazine Runway.
While plot details for the sequel remain under wraps, reports suggest that the story will explore Miranda’s struggle to maintain her influence amid the decline of print media.
She is said to be facing off against her former assistant Emily (Emily Blunt), now a high-powered executive at a luxury brand that Miranda needs for advertising revenue. Hathaway’s Andy is also expected to return to the fashion world in some capacity.
Returning to the project are The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, along with producer Karen Rosenfelt.
New additions to the cast include Kenneth Branagh as Miranda’s husband, along with Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, and Simone Ashley. Tibor Feldman and Tracie Thoms will reprise their roles from the original film.
20th Century Studios is set to release The Devil Wears Prada 2 on May 1, 2026, nearly two decades after the original film became a pop-culture phenomenon. UNI MI SSP
