Chandigarh, Apr 1 (UNI) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Narinder Singh, Joint Director (Factories), Punjab Labour department in SAS Nagar allegedly causing a loss of Rs 700 crore to the State government, a spokesperson said on Saturday.
According to Bureau spokesperson, Narendra Singh was accused of illegally de-registering SAS Nagar based Philips Lighting India Ltd. factory due to which the State government had suffered a loss of about Rs 600 to 700 crore and faced civil cases in various courts.
The Bureau has obtained a five-days police remand by presenting the said accused in a SAS Nagar court. Spokesperson said that the Bureau had registered a case in January this year, in which nine concerned officers/employees have been arrested so far and were in jail under judicial custody.
