Srinagar, Oct 23 (UNI) Averting any backlash against the Kulgam blast tragedy, moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and JKLF chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik were taken into custody while hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani remained under house arrest on Tuesday.
Srinagar UNI reported that separatist leaders had called for a march to Lal Chowk today against the deaths of six civilians in a blast near the site of an encounter at Kulgam.Three Jaish-e-Mohammad ultras were neutralised by security forces at village Laroo in Kulgam on Sunday. When the gun battle ended, a large number of people gathered there during which a blast took place, leaving six persons dead and scores injured.
Mirwaiz, who is under house arrest at his Nigeen residence for several days, tried to march towards Lal Chowk along with hundreds of his supporters. Personnel of the security forces and state police immediately took him into custody. Mirwaiz was later lodged in police station Nigeen.
