Kovind calls for body donation

Bhopal, Nov 10 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday called upon people to donate their body/organs in order to save the lives of other people.

Mr Kovind made the statement while addressing the Sadguru Kabir Mahotsav at the Lal Parade Ground here.

"Several people need organ transplantation but are compelled to suffer due to an insufficient number of organ donors," he pointed out in his 15-minute address.

Urging people to follow saint Kabir's ideals to love humanity, the President exhorted them donate heart, liver, eyes.

“Through organ donation, we can improve the lives of others. Nanaji Deshmukh had set up an example by donating his body. I appeal to the countrymen to donate their body,' he said.

Governor O P Kohli, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Kabirpanthi saint Asang Dev Maharaj
also addressed the gathering. The President's wife Savita Kovind was also present on the occasion.
