Kolkata Port Trust to spend Rs 15.33 cr for repair/upgradation of roads link to Dock area

Kolkata, Jul 23 (UNI) The Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) has decided to spend around Rs 15.33 crore for upgrading/repairing all roads leading to the dock area in the city, according to KoPT chairman MT Krishna Babu.
The roads in the list of repair and upgradation are Coal Dock Road, Sonai Road and Sonarpur Road. These would be repaired with bituminous at cost of Rs 15.33 crore.
Mr Babu said after discussion with different agencies concerned with road maintenance and streamlining multi-dimensional operation, the work of the Kolkata Port Trust will start by October. It is likely to be completed within one year.
In this context KoPT was taking up emergency repair works at a cost of Rs. 1crore which will be completed before this Durga Puja festival.
Keeping this infrastructural need in view, KoPT has already completed repairs of Hyde Road and Taratalla Road at an approximate cost of Rs. 5.5 crore, Mr Babu added.
KoPT will also request the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to take up repair works of other roads as they are public roads like Taratala Road, Hyde Road & Circular Garden Reach road and Strand Bank Road.
