Kolkata hospital does cutting edge surgery to remove massive hernia

Kolkata, Oct 5 (UNI) Doctors here have successfully conducted an innovative modern surgery on a 40-year-old woman who had been living with a massive hernia that severely affected her quality of life.
The advanced abdominal wall reconstruction surgery was performed at CMRI with the cutting-edge Fasciotens device - used primarily in the treatment of abdominal compartment syndrome and large abdominal wall defects.
"The hernia was so huge that she could not walk straight because of its dragging weight. She couldn’t perform daily chores of her life and was mostly home bound. She also complained of recurrent episodes of pain in the abdomen for which she would need medicines and sometimes hospitalisation," said Dr. Sarfaraz Baig, one of India’s leading surgeons in complex hernia repairs.

Aizawl, Oct 3 (UNI) Mizoram's Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department officials said on Sunday that they are yet to lift 1,379.34 metric tonnes of rice, valued at Rs 5 crore, allocated as humanitarian aid for over 40,000 refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) in Mizoram from the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
