Kolhapur distributes Rs 19.78 cr to flood-affected people

Kolhapur, Aug 19 (UNI) The district disaster administration has distributed Rs 19.78 crore in cash and total 414.95 tonne foodgrains to flood-affected people in the district, so far.
District Collector Daulat Desai said in an official statement here that a total Rs 19.78 crore has been distributed to
39,564 families, including 34,964 from rural and 4,600 in city areas, at Rs 5,000 per family.
Mr Desai said that total 414.95 tonne foodgrains were also distributed to 41,495 families in rural areas, while 62,740 quintal foodgrains were distributed in Kolhapur city area.
People, who had taken shelter in relief camps during flood, were now returning to their homes.
The rescue operation, which involved security personnel from all forces, including Navy (15 boats and 63 Jawans), NDRF (20 boats and 142 Jawans), SDRF (two boats and 10 jawans) and the Indian Coast Guard (five boats and 17 Jawans), has been called off, following normalcy in the district.
According to the weather office, the district has registered average 2162 mm rainfall, since June 1.
Total rainfall recorded from June 1 in Hatkanangale was 767.67 mm, while Shirol registered 531.71 mm, Panhala 2078.14 mm, Shahuwadi 2432 mm, Radhanagari 2592 mm, Gaganbavda 5181 mm, Kagal 1703 mm, Gadhinglaj 1303.57 mm, Bhudargad 2310.80 mm, Ajara 2782.75, Chandgad 2677.33 mm and Karveer received 1590 mm average rainfall.
Total 2100 cusecs water from Koyna river and 1400 cusecs from Radhanagari irrigation dam was being discharged in Krushna and Panchaganga rivers, respectively, while 182240 cusecs water from Alamatti irrigation dam was being discharged in Karnataka.
