Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 19 (UNI) KITCO Limited, a premier public sector technical consultancy organisation, has secured the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract from Airports Authority of India (AAI) for setting up a new integrated terminal building at Imphal International Airport in Manipur.
This is the second PMC contract received from AAI after the Mangalore Airport expansion project which is currently progressing. Both the projects were awarded through competitive bidding, an official release said here on Tuesday.
The Rs 600 crore project taken up KITCO on concept-to-commissioning basis envisages construction of a new integrated terminal building conforming to GRIHA 4 Star Rating, control-cum-technical block, apron link and taxiway, construction of new control tower, parking bays for A321/B737-800/Q400 type of aircrafts, two taxiways, car park and internal roads. The project is to be completed in 54 months.
AAI plans to develop Imphal Airport as an Intra-Regional Hub with facility for early morning and late night operations. It will be suitable for landing of 'C' type aircrafts (A 320/321) in all weather conditions.
KITCO has made considerable progress in the preliminary work at Imphal Airport including site surveys, soil investigation, concept presentation and stake holder consultation.
"Aviation division of KITCO had proved its strength and competence in undertaking major airport infrastructure projects such as Cochin International Airport and Kannur International Airport terminals," Mr Cyriac Davies, Managing Director, KITCO Ltd said.
"They were completed on schedule and within the cost limits set by Airport Economic Regulatory Authority of India. This has helped us in getting a winning edge in competitive bidding for AAI projects," he added.
