Srinagar, Oct 20 (UNI) The district commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)-The Resistance Front (TRF), who was involved in the murder of a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh, was killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday along with another unidentified terrorist, police said.
Lashkar's Shopian commander Adil Wani was involved in the October 16 killing of Sakir Ahmad, a carpenter from Saharanpur. Ahmed was shot dead in the Litter area of Pulwama.
Wani was killed in the gunfight between terrorists and security forces that erupted in the morning when joint teams of police, army and the Central Reserve Police Force launched a cordon and search operation at Dragad village following specific inputs.
“During the search operation, as the presence of terrorists was ascertained they were asked to surrender. Instead they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed,” a police officer said.
