Kidney transplant saves life of in-house patient

Thane, Oct 4 (UNI) Two cadaveric Kidney transplants have saved as many lives--a 61-year-old housewife from Thane and another from Jupiter Hospital.
The transplant was performed on Tuesday after the daughter of a 53-year-old male consented to donate her father’s organs after being declared brain dead at Fortis Hospital, Mulund, an official release from Fortis said.
He was hospitalised following a road accident.
Later, he was declared brain dead at the hospital.
The patient’s daughter, who is an IT Engineer by profession, consented to donate all of her father’s organs.
After evaluating and assessing the donor, the patient’s Kidneys were certified fit to be retrieved and transplanted.
First kidney was transplanted into a 61-year-old housewife from Thane, an in-house recipient, who was being treated at the hospital and had been suffering from a chronic kidney disease.
Another kidney was transported to Jupiter Hospital in Thane, to be transplanted in to a 61-year-old retired male recipient suffering from chronic kidney disease, it added.
