Khattar launches Smart-E service in Gurgaon

Chandigarh, Mar 6 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today launched Smart-E service, a unique eco-friendly last mile transport service, which will provide a safe, sustainable and professionally managed last mile connectivity service for the millennium city in Gurgaon.
Smart-E of Treasure Vase Ventures (TVV), will provide its services from key metro stations and other high-footfall areas like corporate parks, shopping areas and residential colonies. The vehicles, which are fully ‘Made in India’ feature an integrated CCTV camera, GPS tracking and other prominent safety features.
The vehicles will also have a Digital Metering App to ensure accurate and transparent pricing for the passengers based on the distance they travel in the vehicle. TVV will also shortly introduce an app that will allow passengers to book a Smart-E in advance for greater convenience.
The first batch of 50 Smart-E will serve MG Road metro station, Sikanderpur metro station, Cybercity, DLF Phase 2 and 3, among other high footfall areas. The company plans to introduce another 100 Smart-Es by April and increase the fleet size to 500 by mid-year and 1,000 by year-end to cover all areas in Gurgaon.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Manjul Kumar, official spokesperson, Smart-E said, “Citizens of Gurgaon are faced with a serious challenge when it comes to safe and reliable last mile transport connectivity. Launch of Smart-E is a step in helping the city address that challenge. We have been very encouraged by the support from the Haryana Government and are especially thankful to Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, the Road Transport Department, HUDA, Gurgaon Police and Gurgaon Traffic Police.”
While addressing the issue of safety and sustainability, Smart-E also provides comprehensive
skill-building and employability for the pilots (drivers).Smart-E is creating country’s first organised category of electric last mile connectivity service.
With this launch Gurgaon becomes the second city after Delhi to get the Smart-E service.
Smart-E made its debut in Delhi in October 2015 serving localities in West Delhi where it has been successfully operational for last few months. The service is being expanded to South Delhi shortly.
