Khattar inaugurates Swarna Jayanti Dwar & organic farming centre at CCSHAU

Hisar, Oct 31 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated Swarna Jayanti Dwar and Deendayal Upadhyay Centre of Excellence for Organic Farming at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) here on Tuesday. Chief Secretary DS Dhesi, BJP State President Subhash Barala, local MLA Kamal Gupta and Vice-Chancellor KP Singh were present on the occasion. To mark the Golden Jubilee of Haryana, a 106-feet wide and 28-feet high magnificent Swarna Jayanti Dwar has been built in the university at a cost of about Rs 58 lakh. Established in the year 1970, this university has four entry gates popularly called Gate No 1, 2, 3 and 4. The university Gate No 4 has been re-built and given the name Swarna Jayanti Dwar (Golden Jubilee Gate). It will be the main entrance of the university. Deendayal Upadhyaya Centre of Excellence for Organic Farming has been set up with the objective to popularize organic farming in the state. According to Vice-Chancellor K P Singh the farmers will be trained in organic farming at this Centre and they will be extended scientific information on organic farming, marketing, storage and post harvest technology. As many as 139 acres of land has been provided to this centre which will be linked to varsity dairy where cow dung, cow urine and agricultural waste after converting into customized fertilizers through modern bio-compost and bio-energy units will be used on organic farm. The organic products of this centre will be directly sold in the market in Delhi and NCR. This will be the first center of its kind in the country where in due course the recommendations of organic farming will be prepared and given to the farmers who will be able to benefit from their implementation on their farm. In this centre, a custom hire centre will be run by the university students, who will also train the farmers about the use of advanced equipments and their commercialisation.
