Kharge charges BJP of trying to topple Cong-JD(S) Govt, claims Govt is stable

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) Amid the ongoing crisis after some of its MLAs went ‘missing’, the Congress party on Wednesday alleged that the BJP is trying to destabilise the JD(S) – Congress coalition government in Karnataka and claimed that the government is stable.
Addressing mediapersons here at AICC headquarters, party Lok Sabha leader and MP from Karnataka, Mallikarjun Kharge said that this is not the first time that the BJP is trying to topple a government.
“This is not the first time that the BJP has done this. They have always tried to poach MLAs like they did in Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand etc. They wish to form the government by hook or by crook”, alleged Mr Kharge.
Referring to the reports that the BJP law makers from Karnataka are staying in a resort in Gurugram, in BJP-ruled Haryana, the senior Congress leader asked why the saffron party is hiding their MLAs if they have confidence on them.
“If BJP was strong and united as they claim, then why are they hiding their MLAs in a 5-star hotel in Gurugram?” asked Mr Kharge
He said the party’s CLP meeting will be held soon and claimed that all the law makers will present there.
According to reports, the Congress on Wednesday called a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on 18 January in Bengaluru.
Attacking the BJP, Mr Kharge appealed to the people of the country to watch how the former is indulging in horse trading and trying to topple a stable government.
However, “the Congress-JD(S) government is strong and it will run firmly”, said the senior Karnataka leader and added that all our 118 MLAs are intact. BJP is trying to mislead through media by saying they are in contact with our MLAs. This is a lie”.
Taking on the former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Mr Kharge said that the senior BJP leader had tried hard to form the government in Karnataka but failed to gain vote of confidence in the Assembly.
“Even after that they tried to threaten our MLAs with IT, ED raids in Karnataka, but could not succeed. Now their own MLAs are hiding in a hotel in Gurugram”, he added.
The political crisis has started in the Southern state after Congress's five MLA's reportedly went missing and the party leadership could not reach them.
The Congress has charged the BJP of poaching its MLA to destabilise the coalition government.
