Khandu makes surprise visit to school

Itanagar, Sep 20 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday conducted a surprise inspection of the Government Higher Secondary School here to take stock of its facilities and infrastructures.

During the visit, Mr Khandu inspected several classrooms to get a view of the first hand condition of the school and also interacted with the students and teachers and enquired on the teaching environment.

The CM emphasised that besides academic courses, students be made to take active part in co-curricular activities. He appreciated the initiative of the school in involving students to paint graffiti in school walls to encourage the creativity in them.

Taking a whirlwind tour of the school campus, Mr Khandu paid a visit to staff room, teacher’s room and the principal office. He also inspected the godown where books were kept and inquired on the status of availability of school textbooks. He urged that textbooks be made available and assured to provide support so that there is no shortage.

The CM asked for attendance register and personally checked the attendance of all the teaching staffs and other staffs. Finding no regular records, he urged the school authority to ensure that regular attendance of all the school staffs and teachers is recorded daily.

Mr Khandu also inspected the functioning of smart classrooms and interacted with the students enquiring about their satisfactory level in smart classroom teachings. He urged that teachers be adequately trained to make smart classrooms teachings effective.

The CM also inspected the new RCC school building, which is undergoing construction with some part of it completed. He asked the authority to utilise the building for teaching purposes urging that few classrooms be shifted immediately.

He requested the authority to shift the smart classroom teaching to this new building assuring that all necessary support will be provided.

The CM also inspected the classrooms in the new school building equipped for children with special needs.

He also held discussion with school authority on how to improve the condition and learning environment of the school.

The CM assured all necessary support in terms of infrastructure, other facilities, staff and teachers shortages.
