Khandu launches website of skill development department

Itanagar, Sep 29 (UNI) “For a department like skill development it is all the more essential as it deals directly with the people, particularly the unemployed youths,” observed Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu while launching the website of the department of skill development and entrepreneurship, here today.
Congratulating the department on the launch of portal www.skillarunachal.nic.in, Khandu said having a website has become a necessity for transparency, speedy and accessible delivery of services to the people.
Secretary of skill development Madhu Garg, secretary of information technology Sonam Chombay, and other officials of the department and NIC were present on the occasion, official sources informed.
Khandu appreciated the NIC team for coming up with a dynamic, interactive and user-friendly portal that will give instant access to opportunities to the unemployed and share information on the services available for skill development and employment generation.
Underscoring the importance of the department, the Chief Minister stressed on strengthening it and increases its scope of service.
“Unemployment is a big challenge for our government. As everybody cannot be accommodated in government jobs, it is essential to skill our youths for employment in private sectors as well as self-employment,” he said.
The department has so far sponsored 11,206 youths for training in various trades through 46 registered vocational training providers (VTPs). While 2580 youths are employed in various sectors across the country, 655 are still undergoing training.
