Itanagar, Jun 17 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and congratulated him on assuming his office.
“Called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah this afternoon and congratulated him on assuming his office. With Amit Shah ji taking charge of Home Ministry, we can assure ourselves of rule of law and peace to reign in the country!,’’ Mr Khandu said in a tweet.
He also called on Union Minister of State (Independent) for Youth Affairs & Sports Kiren Rijiju at his office in New Delhi and congratulated him on assuming his office.
Following the call on, a meeting was jointly chaired by Union Minister and Chief Minister to discuss on development of sports activities and sports infrastructures in Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting was also attended by State Sports Minister Mama Natung, a Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) release said.
During the meeting, the infrastructure gap in Arunachal for implementation of ‘Khelo India’, a national programme for the development of sports in the state was discussed, it said.
“Arunachal plans to hold National Games by 2024 for which the meeting took an assessment on the status of sports infrastructure and other logistics preparedness in the state. The meeting also took review on the progress of development of major sports infrastructures in the state such as the construction of an outdoor stadium at Yupia, Chimpu, Pasighat, Aalo, Daporijo etc,” the release stated.
The meeting also discussed on the development of sports activity such as boxing, weightlifting, football, martial arts etc in which Arunachalis are believed to be naturally good at besides development of other recreational sports activity, a long term plan for the development of sports academy for football, badminton, it said.
Further, the meeting discussed on a proposal to hold North East Youth Festival 2019-20 in Arunachal, it added.
