New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) Former TDP Youth Wing chief in Telangana Virendra Goud on Thursday joined BJP here in presence of senior party leader P Muralidhar Rao.
"In the growth story of BJP in Southern India many leaders from other parties have joined BJP in last few months, today in the same line Virendra Goud, young, energetic leader, President of TDP youth wing, Telangana joined BJP in New Delhi," Mr Rao tweeted.
"Welcomed him to BJP and wished good luck," he wrote.
Mr Goud is son of former Andhra Pradesh Minister Devender Goud.
Senior Goud was once close to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu but lately has withdrawn himself largely owing to growing age.
Devender Goud, who also served as Backward Class Welfare and Prohibition Minister in NT Rama Rao's cabinet, had founded the Nava Telangana Praja Party to strive for separate statehood for Telangana region but later returned to his parent outfit.
A prominent leader in Hyderabad region, senior Goud has also worked as a cabinet minister handling Revenue and Home portfolios under N Chandrababu Naidu and was also a Rajya Sabha member.
In 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP won four seats out of 17.
