Kerala reports 2 deaths, 488 new COVID cases, 143 recoveries, 3,442 patients under treatment: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 11 (UNI) Kerala reported two COVID deaths on Saturday whereas 488 patients tested positive newly, 143 infected people have recovered and 3,442 patients are under treatment in various districts, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
Addressing a press conference here this evening, the Chief Minister confirmed the death of two people, a 66-year old in Thiruvananthapuram, and a 79-year old in Ernakulam district.
"At present, 1,82,050 people are under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of which 1,78,356 are under home or institutional quarantine and 3,694 isolated in hospitals. 570 people were hospitalised today," the CM said.
He said 234 were cases of infection through contact as 167 were in those who came back from overseas and 76 from other states.
