Kerala reports 1 death, 62 new COVID cases, 10 recoveries, 577 patients under treatment: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, May 29 (UNI) Kerala reported a death due to COVID-19 on Friday whereas 62 people tested positive newly, 10 were recovered and 577 patients are under treatment in various districts, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said this evening.
Addressing a press conference at the Government Secretariat, the Chief Minister confirmed the death of a Pathanamthitta native who was undergoing treatment in Kottayam district.
He said "1,24,167 persons are under surveillance across the State. 1,23,087 are under home or institutional quarantine and 1,080 are isolated in hospitals. 231 people were hospitalised today."
He said, "33 of the new cases are in people who have come back to the State from other countries, 23 are those who returned from other States, one is a case of local transmission, two are remand prisoners in jail, one is a health worker and two are Air India cabin crew members."
