Kerala Police warn against fake marathon ads on Instagram, websites used to cheat public

Thiruvananthapuram, July 14 (UNI) Kerala Police have issued a public warning against fake marathon registration scams being carried out through fraudulent websites and Instagram pages by misusing the name of a leading bank to cheat members of the public in the guise of event registrations.
According to the police, fraudsters are widely circulating advertisements for a fictitious event titled "Marine Drive Marathon Kochi 2026", enticing people with attractive offers such as substantial prize money, sponsorship opportunities and free facilities.
The scam begins by convincing prospective participants to register for the event by paying a registration fee of Rs 698.
