Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 18 (UNI) Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday condoled the demise of veteran journalist KM Roy.
"Deeply grieved to hear about the demise of Shri K.M Roy, veteran journalist who served both Malayalam and English media," the Governor tweeted.
"Shri. K. M. Roy's contribution to journalism as well as towards ensuring the rights of journalists will be long remembered. My heartfelt condolences. May his soul rest in peace," the Governor added.
Recalling the veteran journalist's contribution in both Malayalam and English, the Chief Minister said KM Roy was a person who strongly held the values of journalism.
As KM Roy was a well known agency reporter and columnist, his contribution to the cultural field was also invaluable.
K M Roy was a recipient of Swadesabhimani-Kesari award, the highest honour for media persons instituted by Government of Kerala.
Later, a GO was issued by the State Protocol Officer directing to present police honours as a mark of respect for the deceased in connection with the funeral to be held tomorrow at St Joseph Church, Thevara, Kochi.
